are endless! I really appreciate what NARIP does for the growing and
ever-expanding music industry here in Georgia and will be a lifelong

Having co-founded a large networking group for the tech world in Denver, Integrated Alliances, I know what a huge undertaking you have chosen to accept. I am in awe of the organization you have developed to date, and impressed with the depth and commitment of the membership. NARIP is like a worldwide fraternity/sorority comprised of outrageously talented individuals from all aspects of the music business who generously share their knowledge, experience and support with each other. These historically cloistered veterans openly support their peers, no matter what level those peers may have achieved so far, or what help, skills or contacts they seek . My hat’s off to you, and Mary Bee, and now Vince for the wonderful job you have done and continue to do. Your impressive leadership skills enable you to do an amazing job of making sure everyone stays focused and to the point at every NARIP event. You make a pretty darned good drill sergeant in a meeting environment. Thank you for all you do—Rock Garden Conspiracy has found a home at NARIP.

NARIP has been the absolute game-changer in my pursuit to expand my producing career from Europe to the US. In my first NARIP Session, I was put in front of legendary A&R man Tom Zutaut (Guns ‘N’ Roses, Edie Brickell, Tesla, Motley Crue). He was so excited about my material that he introduced me to an artist project we later collaborated on, leading to even more high-level industry hook-ups. At my second NARIP event, a networking brunch at Judith Dornstein’s home, I made several interesting connections, including to my present manager Sydney Alston and his artist Major Myjah, who is now getting signed to a major label deal as a result of our creative collaboration. Apart from opening these and many other amazing doors, NARIP has provided a sense of stability and constant flow of opportunity that has been invaluable in keeping my dream alive through 2 years of “commuting” between Copenhagen and Los Angeles. Big ups and big hugs to Tess and Team NARIP!

The “Unstoppable on ABC” campaign is still running strong (August 2013) and has been an amazing opportunity for us this summer. We want to give a special thanks to Tess Taylor at NARIP (www.narip.com) for acquiring the ABC Family placement opportunity for us. We have met such amazing people and developed so many lifelong friends at the NARIP Sessions. If you are in the music business or are looking for opportunities to place your music, I highly suggest working with this organization.

For me, the song placement world comes down to one fact, great music, period. Our team worked long and hard for Beatles Reimagined. From concept, to curating indie bands, to A&R direction, to legal and beyond, the process took almost a year and a half before we were ready to present the finished product at a NARIP Session to Gary Calamar. But when you are working with songs written by the greatest songwriters in the history of popular music you then have to make sure the bands you are working with are top notch and able to interpret those songs in a meaningful contemporary fashion. And you can tell. We didn’t just throw musicians and jingle singers in the studio. We only wanted working indie bands for the project. We were truly excited with the quality of the musical interpretations we received from the bands. And we were truly excited and thankful that Gary immediately understood what we were doing, was savvy enough to hear it, and take a chance with us. And we forever thank NARIP for that introduction!

I have been a NARIP member for almost a year now. The programs and sessions NARIP offers are one of a kind. I have particularly benefited greatly from NARIP’s Music Supervisor Sessions. As a music publisher from out of state, it’s become an ongoing strategy for me or one of my team members to fly to LA or anywhere a NARIP session is being held as often as possible. I’ve had great results from the sessions and consequently have had many placements come from them as a direct result. Beyond that, NARIP is an amazing platform to network and meet other industry professionals. I’ve not only gained great insight and personal success with NARIP, but I’ve also gained a great group of friends.
Lyric House Publishing
My experience with Tess Taylor and the NARIP Team has been nothing short of wonderful. The meetings they offer are truly career changing. Always someone to answer any question, return any call. Such heavy hitters in their meetings, it really turned my head. I look forward to placing many more songs through this stellar company.

I have not only received immense value, I have placed music tracks as a direct result of attending NARIP Music Supervisor Sessions. The Sessions are a rarefied experience, a giant step in a very competitive business. Attending a session can be instrumental in a successful placement. You do need to be prepared, however, and you will learn a great deal about the process of music licensing, and about your music. Sessions are an intensive, toe-on-the-rubber platform from which to pitch music tracks directly to a music supervisor. The supervisor is listening. to. your. track. You will get a response. That is a gold experience. That is what it is all about.

NARIP is by far the coolest and most productive music network in LA, and in the world for that matter. Producers, music supervisors, songwriters, publishers, song pluggers, everyone. I’ve started real relationships with a number of big-name people through NARIP events where I got to play them my music and meet them personally. Thank you, NARIP!

After deciding to expand my network and advance my career in the record industry as a music producer/composer/mixer/videographer by relocating from Sacramento to Los Angeles, only one question remained, NOW WHAT? Well, lucky for me, that question was soon answered by two complete strangers whom I met at two difference industry events in Los Angeles. They both adamantly recommended that I join NARIP. Their enthusiasm was such that after doing a bit of research and visiting the NARIP Web site, I knew without a doubt that I had found the organization that was right for me. I soon joined NARIP and quickly scheduled a Career Strategy Session with NARIP President Tess Taylor. To date, it’s one of the best things I’ve done to advance my career. Tess’s ability to hone in on what is truly important to advance an individual’s career is absolutely remarkable. I soon found myself going through the NARIP online store and downloading some very informative audio recordings of sessions featuring record industry insiders sharing their insights and knowledge. I found the mock negotiation sessions extremely insightful and eye opening. If you are in any way connected to the record industry as an executive, producer, singer, songwriter, artist or engineer, you owe it to yourself to join NARIP. Not being in the ‘know’ can no longer be used as an excuse. NARIP has done and keeps doing a lot of the work for you by gathering tons of information pertinent to your success in the record industry. This network along with its resources and staff is an incredible find. Very special thanks to Tess Taylor and Mary Bee for always being there (even though they are super busy) to answer questions and offer great professional advice, to myself and to other NARIP members. Join NARIP now, attend as many of their events as you possibly can, access and learn from their online resources, network with other NARIP members and watch your career take off!!!!
Thank you NARIP!

I continue to be impressed by the work that NARIP does. It has become THE class networking and educational organization in the record business.
Jim Urie, President
Universal Music & Video Distribution
NARIP brings together firing line executives and rainmakers to share expertise, perspective and invaluable insight while they invent next years’ record business. Focusing on areas of concern or development that really matter, NARIP’s in-depth agendas trigger debate and discussions of such intensity that they make you wonder why anyone ever used to listen to panels pitching all of that old manipulative, self-serving corporate-line rhetoric. To miss a NARIP event is to do yourself an incredible injustice.
I am amazed and impressed by what you have carved out for yourself in a very difficult terrain. You pin-pointed your segment of the record biz population and got it right the first time. And you do very worthwhile work. You have my admiration.
Chief Technologist for Warner Music Group, CEO of FirstMedia, founder & former CEO of Elektra Records and Nonesuch Records
This information (mobile distribution) is so valuable and timely. Very few, if any, are taking advantage of the mobile marketplace. In a few years, it will be household knowledge, like mp3s and digital downloads. Tapping into NARIP has allowed me get running before the whistle. I am now seeking mobile distribution and famous artist features for all of my artists, to give them a true competitive edge. And I know exactly where to start. Because not only did NARIP teach me ‘what’ and ‘how,’ but they brought me the ‘who.’ The very distributors who run this whole operation.

NARIP and Tess, thank you for putting me in touch with so many great connections, including my current mentor and supervisor [at Atlantic Records]. The transition from a starry-eyed college student to an industry professional would have been near impossible for this Indiana-grown music enthusiast without your help. Thanks to you, I landed a job with Atlantic Records where I can live out my passion for music every day.

Thank you so much, this [Career & Resume Tips] is going to help me a bunch!
Your resume seminar rocked the microphone, pardner! You were getting mobbed so I didn’t have the chance to come up and say thanks personally but I’ll say it now, thank you! I’ll shoot you another email later, it’s getting rather late. Again, thanks for your invaluable presentation.

Hello Ms. Taylor,
I recently attended your Resume Workshop at the MEIEA/MEISA National Conference at Cal-Poly Pomona on March 24. I wanted to say how impressed and floored I was at your raw analysis of students’ resumes. In addition to being an immensely achieved individual, you showed students that you are not afraid to be brutally honest, which is a quality we rarely get to see, especially with the overload of sugar-coated advice from our Career Services offices.
Although I truly enjoyed your workshop, it was not what I expected. Sure, it was a resume workshop, just as the title predicted. But the description of it which I found on the MEISA website and in the conference program did not do it justice. I almost did not attend because I was so tired of hearing the same old resume advice from my professors, advisors, and career services.
From a graduating senior’s perspective, I feel that you should emphasize the brutal honesty of your advice. No sugar-coating. Rough. Vigorous. Demanding. Raw. Merciless. Aggressive…. Brutal, yet sophisticated. Critical, yet honest. If I heard that from the beginning, I would have been attracted to your workshop immediately.
It’s only a suggestion!
Thank you for such great resume and workplace advice, Ms. Taylor. Best of luck with all that you do!

I just wanted to send you a message to personally “thank you” for the thoughtful message you sent with the framed picture of you, Dick Wagner and the Phoenix NARIP Crew!!! It was an extremely nice gesture by you to send the photo. I appreciate the comments, and also working with you. At each NARIP encounter, I have taken something away, whether it is of a professional nature or a personal one. I am extremely thankful that Jason [Coochwytewa, NARIP’s Phoenix Director] made a connection with you. It has been a fantastic 4-months (“only?”). See you at the next event you attend in Phoenix!

NARIP, thanks again for hosting the event today; Desmond Child is a cool cat. I took a couple of nuggets of wisdom away. Plus, of course, I met some cool new people, as I usually do at NARIP events.
Tom Bishel, artist & producer
We want to let you know that your reflections and discussions throughout the seminar [Producing Hit Songs with Dick Wagner] were very well-conceived and articulately spoken. Also, we appreciate all you do to make NARIP a positive force in the industry. It’s a difficult task to establish an organization, and you have created one that is meaningful and beneficial to a wide variety of talent and professionals. The services you are providing to both music pros and musicians are valuable and constructive on many levels.
Thanks so much, Tess.

Thank you very much for hosting this event. It was great to meet P.J. Bloom face to face, after having dealt with him on the phone and on email for some time. His unique take on music supervision, and his sheer body of work made the event interesting and educational.
Thanks for the fantastic overview of the CIC [Concert Industry Consortium] – it was so informative.

Thanks again for being so professional in a way that I wish would become industry standard! Starting a record company these days is no easy business, especially with less commercial types of music, so one really appreciates the help and stimulus of dedicated people like you!! This is the reason, why promoting the existence of your product in this case becomes a natural: being satisfied in the way one is treated motivates to behave likewise! All the best to you, and enjoy the new VIBE TRIBE CD “Views”, which is on the way to you.
Just a quick message to thank you again for your help and great work during these few days, I know all the French pros were as much appreciative as we are of your efforts. Sorry I didn’t get a chance to say goodbye but maybe next year, considering the success of this operation.

Just wanted to thank you for the wonderful job you did in Los Angeles for the French delegation. I really appreciated meeting you and such important guys.
A quick email to thank you for your assistance during our trip in LA. The French professionals are just so happy to have met all these music supervisors and that you were there to introduce them! Funny thing: on Saturday morning back in Paris, my neighbor who’s American, forwarded me your newsletter where he had recognized me (I also got it on my professional email address too, thanks by the way) because he had gotten it from his dad who is a member of NARIP and thought his son could do some business in France with the French companies that were in LA… the world is just so small! OK, hope to see you soon!

Bonjour Tess, I just received your newsletter. It gives me the opportunity to tell how I am proud (and happy!) to meet you that Monday. It is a real privilege. You did in those 3 days such a fantastic and professional job! Laurent Voulzy thanks you personally for all you did for us. I’ll let you know the follow up of my work in the US. (I’ll be in NYC Nov 26th / Dec 8th for recording-sessions). Looking forward to meeting again, dear Tess. Warmest regards.

Hey Tess, great bash this morning. I love this niche you’ve created for yourself: music ambassador. Brilliant!
Tess, no matter what you and I have worked together on, I have always found you give tremendous value for money. I think you are great, I always enjoy your company, and your professionalism is totally unparalleled. The directories were great, but what really hit it home with the writers last year was the dinner at Vert and getting people like Rick Garcia and Ralph McCarthy on board.

I recently purchased your Career and Resume Tips and would like to thank you for the great information. It my opinion it’s some of the best advice and strategies I’ve read. After reading through it, I feel encouraged and confident that I can succeed in this business. I’ve been recommending it to all my friends. Thanks again.
I received my MP3 of the teleseminar (Promote Your Music 2) with no problems. Truly fascinating! I am honored to be associated with such a class organization as NARIP, especially with you at the helm. The guest commentators left no stone unturned. Unfortunately, I did not tune in for the last teleseminar (Promote Your Music 1), but did get a great deal of information and ideas from this one with regard to public relations, etc. I’m going to really work hard to incorporate a lot of those wonderful ideas into growing my business. I want people to know how much NARIP is instrumental in the success of my business. I only wish I could be at every seminar and sign up for everything that NARIP facilitates. It is worth every penny to me. I just can’t thank you enough!
Thank you for everything you do for the health of our business!

Tess Taylor is one of the most brilliant, tireless, knowledgeable and dedicated individuals I have ever known. She is highly respected throughout the music industry; the panels she assembles to examine hotbed issues are always the most formidable who’s who of the business. In terms of being relevant and keeping its members current, NARIP is far superior to the Recording Academy.
Ann Rebentisch, CMP, CMM
I’m just writing to thank you for the invite for the meeting last week [Art of the Music Deal in San Francisco]. It was really great and I’d love to attend more in the future. I took one of the artists who is on the Cyberset Music (www.cyberset.cc) record label that I manage and he got a lot out if it too. It was also good to touch base with Tony Berman again too, he’s really on point with his outlook. Thanks again.
Thanks for the follow up info and for the wonderful teleseminar (Promote Your Music 1). What a wonderful age we live in, with access to so much amazing and useful information – and we don’t even need to leave our own stomping grounds to get it! Again, thank you for setting this up!
This [Promote Your Music 1] was FABULOUS!!!
It is JUST what I need right now in my career. Excellent!!
And what a GREAT idea!! Phone seminars! LOVE it! It doesn’t matter the location or what one is doing … we can all easily spare an hour for a seminar such as this one. And yes, I would love to participate in more of these phone seminars.
Yes, excellent speakers, including yourself!
And thanks for all of the data.
This has been MOST helpful and it has interested me in the area of publicity, how to go about it, and helped to give me the tools to take control of this next and vital part of my career.

I just wanted to express my thanks to Tess, Joan [Stewart], & Scott G (nice voice) for sharing your expertise, and ideas. I have just released a new CD which contains tracks that American Idol and Showtime has picked up, and I will be working hard to use the tips you shared today to maximize the promotions around my work.
Look forward to it [next NARIP program] as always…..
I’m sure we’ll run into each other again at Popkomm or someplace else. Thanx again for all the work you do on the forefront of those creative souls helping music to survive!!
All the best,
Just wanted to say thank you for such an inspiring seminar on Saturday. I’m glad I came.
I had a fantastic time at the NARIP event on Friday [Producing Hit Songs with Derek Bramble]. I found it informative, insightful and downright fun. I am most certainly looking forward to the next one! Shortly after the meeting’s closing, Lauren of SAE contacted me to let me know that she wanted to place my demo song in a film she’s producing, which I found remarkable, considering that was my first attendance of a NARIP event.
I’m blown away by the incredible networking potential of these events. I also appreciate you referring Robb Dipple to me — I’ll give him a holler in the near future for any work I may need done when I’m out of the area.
We also spoke briefly towards the end of the evening regarding an [internationally omitted] referral, as I’m presently looking to establish a relationship with one that I can trust and work closely with in the future. Any help you might offer on this front would as always be greatly appreciated.
Thanks again Tess for being so kind and receptive of me as an artist and colleague — I have an incredible respect for what you’re doing at NARIP.

First off, thank you very much for hosting such an informative panel (“The Art of Artist Management”). The panelists were incredible, you asked great questions, and I am convinced that everyone who attended the event went home with some great ideas. Mostly however, I simply wanted to congratulate you on your success with NARIP. As you know, I joined in September of 1998 when I was starting at Virgin Records. Without really knowing where to start or how to make my path in this industry, your organization gave me a solid footing. From personal coaching, to the mentor program, to these panels, your organization has helped support my growth in this industry… and apparently it has made an impact on many others’ lives as well. I must say that I was so happy to see that your organization has grown to include not only so many people, but so many people from all over the country! At my table alone we had people from San Francisco and Las Vegas who made the trek to come to the panel. I guess I’m simply saying congratulations and thank you. We’ve both come a long way since 1998, and I am very proud of you! You’ve done a great job and my hat is definitely off to you!

Just wanted to congratulate you on tonight’s panel (“Records, Technology & Consumers”). I thought it was extremely interesting and I heard nothing but good comments afterward. As you know, I attended Plug-In earlier this year in NY and attended all of the panels. Not one of them was as interesting and as thought-provoking as yours was tonight. Musically yours,
I just wanted to drop you a note to thank you personally for the event on Monday. I was able to make contact with most of the panelists. You don’t know how much has helped me in my search for a career in music. Keep up the good work.

As a dedicated person feeling his way through this rollercoaster ride of a business, I must say that the regular communication from your organization is full of both information and inspiration. I am completely satisfied with my membership and would recommend it to anyone I think could benefit. Until next time,
Thanks for the site. It is really helpful and a great resource for the industry!
I had a great time at the dinner last night. I think the organization is an amazing idea and it has really helped me. I met some wonderful people and I enjoyed speaking to everyone.
Left Bank Management
I really enjoyed the dinner on Feb. 17th. It’s nice to meet people in a more intimate atmosphere, like the one at this gathering. I really appreciate you including me. I look forward to future ones. Hope all is well with you. Thanks again.
Already I feel the membership cost is more than justified.
If people would just read the newsletter, they’d learn a lot more than they know!
I just wanted to write to you to let you know that I got the job. I am going to start on Monday. Thank you for your help. This network really does work. Thanks again.
Tess’s career services are invaluable. First, she finds out exactly who you are and what you want to do. She then gives you solid advice on how to achieve your goals. Finally, and this is the kicker, she opens up her Rolodex and helps you think of effective ways to get in front of people who can have a real impact on your career. If it really is mostly about who you know in the music business, then Tess Taylor is an excellent person to cultivate.
J. Michael Ribas
I wanted to thank you for your job listing service. I listed an intern position for TuneData and Music Report a few months ago and was very pleased to have found Michael Ribas. He has been an excellent asset to TuneData and Music Report and I have to decided to hire him on as a permanent employee. Your service is definitely the way to find qualified individuals for music industry positions. I really appreciate your help and great organization. Michael is a really sharp guy and I know will be a real asset to our company.
Adam W. Wolf
Just wanted to thank you for your help again and keep you updated. Andrew Hall called me today to offer me the position at Musikvergnuegen and I very enthusiastically accepted. I am greatly looking forward to working with him, and the company seems great… Many thanks! It’s nice to have finally found an organization [NARIP] that actually brings people in the industry together.
Just wanted to let you know how amazing I thought the “Money for Your Music” conference was today. I’m realizing more and more that knowledge is power. Your NARIP conferences are great because they’re geared toward people like me who already know what’s up in the record industry but who are looking for more information to fine tune. I really appreciated the fact that today’s program was not a total beginners course. I am weary of going to some of these things because so often they are too elementary and I usually don’t feel as if learn much more than what I knew walking in the door, but today’s course was right on target. Thank you so much for all your support and help. It really means a lot to me.
Personal Artist Manager
I joined NARIP in May and have already reaped the benefits of being a NARIP member. I have found NARIP’s events to be educating, thought-provoking and fun. I have gotten to meet such wonderful people through networking and have made a lot of contacts through NARIP events. As you know, I am not a very social person, but being a member of such an elite group has forced me to jump out there and meet people. In such a short time, I’ve already seen a full return on my membership dues. I wish I had joined sooner! I want to thank you for your encouragement, resources and this incredible opportunity. I hope to someday become what you are: an amazing, well-respected woman! Thanks for everything.

I became a member in 2002 and it’s the best money I’ve ever spent. I got work from the job listings, which led to more work. My network of contacts is really building as a direct result of Tess Taylor’s advice. NARIP has helped me make a living in the record business and build toward a more lucrative career that suits my goals. I just wish I’d joined sooner.
NARIP is a well-run, quality organization, offering a wealth of information and services, and it is an invaluable resource to people at all levels of the record industry.

I really enjoyed Tim’s panel and I thought it was cool that you had everybody introduce themselves and say what they did in the business. Not only did I learn a lot at the panel, but I met a lot of great people there too. Everybody seemed to be much more open to meeting each other than some of the other panels that I’ve been to.
NARIP is doing something that really helps the music community. It’s a much-needed service.
